Good Cocker Spaniel Names

Introduction

Every dog owner always tries to find a name for a puppy that will be cool, fairly unusual and have some distinct meaning. Moreover, a name should sound easy and natural.

In this article we are going to collect the most beautiful and uncommon names for male and female puppies. Some of the nicknames will be cute, some serious and some just easy and funny.

So, it is a high time for you to take a pen and write down the best names ever for your little Spaniel puppy!

Be careful! Do not postpone the issue of choosing the name for your puppy since a dog should get used to its name since the very puppyhood.

Some Useful Tips

  • Choose the name that will match the personality of your Cocker. ‘Biscuit’ won’t be appropriate for alpha male Cocker, as well as ‘Big Foot’ for little tiny female Cocker.
  • Choose the name that you won’t be embarrassed to use in public. Remember, that you will call your dog dozens of times during the day.
  • Moreover, the name should sound easy and natural for you and for your dog. Choose the name with one or two syllables.
  • Don’t choose anything that sounds too similar to an obedience training command that can mislead your Cocker.
  • Do not name your dog after your relatives or family members (it may seem offensive).
  • Do not choose too cute names for your Cocker. Remember, what seems cute for a puppy, won’t be cute at all for an adult Spaniel.
Recommendation: if you are at loss and don’t know which name to choose, look at your Spaniel appearance and connect the name with some of its distinctive features, for example: Spot for a spotty dog, Blackie or Brownie for a Cocker with dark fur, Goldie, Patch, Ginger, or Cappuccino for a Cocker with light fur, etc.

Glad to see you, my friends! I started this blog several years ago as a hobby and continue to write articles about dogs.
I'm a dog lover and the proud owner of two wonderful dogs: French Bulldog Maya and Beagle Tom. It's been more than 10 years since I had a dogs and worked closely with them. I've raised four dogs throughout my life and have experience assisting in the births of two dogs. At least once a week, I volunteer with friends at a dog shelter AMA Animal Rescue and Animal Care Centers of NYC in NY.

I’ve had two cocker spaniels in my life; both females. The first one was named Buffy. Very outgoing and friendly. The current one that I have is named Brandi Ann. Total opposite of the first. When Brandi Ann was younger, she would make you think she was going to eat you up. Very protective of me. Now, at 16, she will still bark at folks, but not be a meanie.

Both of my girls are/were blonde. I would like to have a black, party colored or red if I get ever get another.
