Introduction

Specialists usually say that shih-tzu dogs behave more like human beings than dogs. This breed of dogs is very neat and sometimes can make its owner to keep the house clean and tidy.

Besides, these dogs are really beautiful and everyone can’t but touch and pat them. They get along perfectly with the whole family, even with little children, and are able to play at any time.

How to Choose a Puppy?

It is recommended by almost all professional breeders to get puppies at the age of eight or nine weeks because dogs can already eat without any help, they are more independent and look like adult dogs in this period.

When you are in the process of choosing your future pet, you should make attention to its health status. A puppy should stand on its four legs firmly. When it goes, it should not stagger. Its aural cavities must be clean and without any suspicious spots.

The eyes of your pet should be clear, and the tail must not have any twists. Moreover, your dog must have the certificate of all the vaccinations already done.

At first, make sure you have a good place for your dog to sleep at. This place should be the best one, not in a draught and not in the corridor of your house. It will be safer for a puppy to see and hear people around it.

You should put a bowl with water near your dog’s place. Water must always be raw, fresh and at room temperature. Put the bowl on a box or a stand at a height of five centimetres from floor.

It is better to have the dog’s place in your room where you sleep. You may use a box or a basket or a special home kennel that are sold in shops. The bedding should be firm but warm. You may take an old blanket or a small quilted mattress.

Recommendation: put an old rag, a piece of clothing or just your handkerchief in order to make the dog feel more comfortable. The puppy will be able to cover itself when it is cold.
